About Portland Practice

At Portland Dental, we recognize the artistry in dentistry—the comprehension, the attentiveness, the dedication. We understand that the ideal smile is the one that instills pride.

Every dental encounter is tailored to your individual needs. Our highly skilled team, committed to listening and understanding your unique dental requirements, will guide you through each stage to ensure you receive optimal dental treatment.

Dentistry fuel our enthusiasm. Employing cutting-edge techniques and engaging in continuous professional development, we strive to consistently deliver the best care for you.

We perceive dentistry as an art form that not only inspires your smile but also maintains the health of your teeth and gums. To enhance your confidence further, inquire about our dental treatments.

We offer a wide range of services, including general dentistry (cleanings, fillings), cosmetic dentistry (whitening, veneers, crown), root canal treatment, dentures, bridges and hygiene appointments.

It’s generally recommended to visit the dentist at least once a year for a routine check-up and cleaning, but your dentist may suggest more frequent visits based on your clinical needs.

We are accepting new private option, including pay-as-you go for individual treatments or a flexible membership that lets you spread your payment monthly. With our membership, you will also receive a 10% discount on all our treatments and other additional benefits.

During your first visit, we’ll take a comprehensive medical and dental history, conduct a full examination of your teeth and gums, and take some x-rays. A dental cleaning may also be part of this appointment.

It is recommended to start taking your child to the dentist as soon as their first tooth comes through, which is usually around 6 months of age, but no later than their first birthday. The NHS advises this early visit to help children become familiar with the dentist and to monitor the development of their teeth and gums.

We only accept payments made by cash and debit or credit card.

Regular visits to your dentist are crucial for maintaining good oral health, and they are also necessary to remain on the NHS dentist patient list. The NHS has a rule that requires you to visit your dentist at least once every two years. If you fail to do so, the NHS will remove you from our practice list, and unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to prevent this.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any cancellation fees. Any missed appointment will incur in a fee.

Failure to attend appointments or cancelling with insufficient notice may result in us deciding whether you can continue as a patient at our practice. If this occurs, you may be deregistered from the practice.

We are a busy practice with many patients waiting for urgent dental treatment. If you have booked a family appointment and one of your family members is unable to attend, please make sure to cancel the appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation fee.

Yes, dental X-rays are safe. We use digital X-rays, which significantly reduce radiation exposure. They are an important tool for diagnosing issues that aren’t visible to the naked eye.

Yes, professional teeth whitening performed by a dentist is safe. We ensure the right concentration of whitening agent is used and that your gums and teeth are protected.

The best way to prevent gum disease is by maintaining good oral hygiene—brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting our hygienist regularly for cleanings.

A genuine dental emergency is considered: uncontrolled bleeding, trauma or severe pain which cannot be managed with painkillers. In any of these cases please contact our dental practice to arrange an appointment.

Broken teeth/fillings, mild pain controlled with painkillers or loose crowns are not considered dental emergency.

Unfortunately, at the Portland Dental Practice we do not offer out of hours dentist.

If you are suffering of a genuine dental emergency during the weekend or bank holiday please phone the following number between 8:30am and 12:00pm: 028 2566 3510
