Children’s dentistry (Under 18)

We recommend bringing your child to the dentist as soon as their first tooth comes through, which is usually around 6 months of age, but no later than their first birthday. The NHS advises this early visit to help children to become farmiliar with the dentist and to monitor the development of their teeth and gums.

Our dental services for infants and children includes:

  • Routine Dental examination: We aim to make each visit as positive and friendly as possible. We emphasise the importance of brushing their teeth and a low sugar diet to avoid cavities and toothache that will lead to fillings or extractions.
  • Positive reinforcement: Our staff will work to make feel them relaxed and confident enough when they grow up. We encourage regular check-ups to make sure they never become “scared of the dentist”.
  • Monitoring growth: As your children grow, we will follow up the development of their teeth and jaws, referring them to the Orthodontic specialist where necessary. Braces (if required) are usually placed once all the baby teeth have fallen out.
  • Preventive treatment: We can protect the growing adult teeth by applying fissure sealant to the adult teeth if required. Or, for protection against sports injury we can make custom fitted gumshields (sports mouthguard).
  • Emergency treatment: Unfortunately, accidents do happen and if this is the case we provide emergency treatment for broken or injured teeth.
